Look who's here!!

Dawson Louis Jones was born Monday, June 24th at exactly 10:00pm via emergency c-section.  Although he was only 34 weeks along, he is a tough little guy and is doing very well!  Due to growth restriction in the womb, he only weighed 3lb 6oz at birth and is a whopping 15 inches long.  He decided he just wasn't that happy hanging out in Mommy's tummy so he made his grand entrance 6 weeks early.

Dawson will be spending a few weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at TMC, but fortunately he is already doing very well.  He is breathing on his own and has never needed oxygen so that's great.  He is fairly good at regulating his body temperature and might be able to leave the isolette for a regular open crib soon.  His biggest issue is feeding - so far he is only able to feed via tube and is getting only 4 cc of milk at a time, so it will take awhile for him to put on weight and plump up.  As long as he can figure out the feeding thing and puts on some weight, he should be able to come home in a couple of weeks.
